The Northwest Wind Resource and Action Center, which is partially funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, will facilitate a workgroup meeting for stakeholders involved in the distributed and community wind sectors in the Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, MT, ID, WY). Wind Powering Montana

Location: Big Sky, MT

The workshop covered issues of wind technology status/economics, Montana wind resources, Montana wind projects, transmission/utility integration, state policies, environmental issues/siting, rural economic development, landowner perspectives/leases, small wind applications, and irrigation. Two hundred to 300 attendees attended including representative from the Governor's office, state legislators, ranchers/farmers, utilities, rural coops.
