As part of the Northwest Wind Resource and Action Center, Northwest SEED will facilitate a work group meeting for stakeholders involved in the distributed and community wind sector in the Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, MT, ID, WY). Participants will discuss the goals, vision, and action plan for the work group, and local experts will give presentations on relevant topics such as financing, incentives, and policy. State Wind Working Group Summit

Randy Swisher, president, American Wind Energy Association, addresses the State Wind Working Group Summit participants.The Department of Energy's Wind Powering America Program sponsored its first state wind working group summit. Over 90 representatives participated in the summit including representatives from state energy, economic development, and environmental offices; energy regulators; universities; and other state-level organizations. Summit sessions focused on relevant technical and policy issues, working group success stories, barriers to state-level action, review of program funded activities, and planning issues for fiscal year 2003. The summit coincided with the conclusion of the American Wind Energy Association's annual Windpower conference held in Portland, Oregon, June 2-5, with a record-breaking attendance of over 1500 attendees and featuring opening remarks by Assistant Secretary David Garman.
