Renewable Electricity Mandates in Minnesota - Status and Impact
This memo offers a brief overview of the existing renewable electricity requirements in Minnesota and the impact that the proposed extension and expansion of these mandates would have. The authors conclude that about about 4,200 MW of wind energy would be built by 2020 under the current 10 percent renewable energy objectives (REO) law (includes Xcel's wind mandate). Under a proposed 20 percent renewable energy standard (RES) there could be 7,300 MW of wind energy development by 2020. Please see the Web site for full details.
